About Portage Trail Community School

Portage Trail Community Public School is located in the west end neighbourhood of Weston/Mount Dennis. Despite the statistics and rankings that paint it as one of the worst neighbourhood in Toronto, it is a lively and vibrant community with a number of initiatives and programs in place to create a strong community.

One of the community’s main assets is its youth; the schools in the area recognize this fact and are making an effort to really foster a culture of achievement and success among their students. Portage Trail is no different. The school’s motto is simple but essential: WORK HARD, BE NICE, PREPARE FOR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY.  It speaks volumes about what their dedicated staff and administrative team expect from the student body.

The school ensures that students focus on their futures, and that a positive future is real and attainable. The Mentorship Program is part of a variety of opportunities – attending college and university fairs, guest speakers, career mentors, and more – that they undertake to model bright futures for their students.

This is where the value of the Mentorship Program lies. We hope to continue our work in inspiring students to believe that they can and will achieve their academic, career and life goals.
