Returning to U of T this fall may look very different but there are still plenty of opportunities to build skills and gain experience.
Here are 9 ways to kick next year up a notch:
Learn in the community
Gain practical experience, skills and real world knowledge by getting involved in the community. Explore Community Engaged Learning Courses to connect with local organizations and earn course credit. Or discover Community Action Projects for long-term volunteer opportunities outside of coursework and Community Action Groups to team up with other students to create your own community engagement initiatives.
Discover entrepreneurship
Get inspired by innovations and start-up stories from current students, alumni, staff and faculty. Explore entrepreneurship courses, programs, incubators and accelerators that can help you bring your ideas to life.
Gain research experience in your field
Research is not just for graduate students! Check out the Undergraduate Research Hub to search for undergraduate research opportunities in your program or area of interest. You can also talk to your professors, explore your faculty’s website and even do research abroad.
Earn while you learn
Work remotely with the Work Study Program or on-campus jobs to gain relevant paid experience and learn how academic skills transfer to the workplace. To search for job opportunities, log in to CLNx. Work Study positions for fall/winter 2020-2021 will be posted on August 17. Apply early!
Explore your career options
Experts at Career Education & Exploration can help you reach your career goals and navigate where your degree can take you. Check out their career exploration programs and workshops for finding work, applying to jobs, pursuing further education and more!
Go global
Learn about other cultures, expand your network and discover new possibilities through international experiences. To start, join a language exchange, build your intercultural skills or consider your options around the world with Learning Abroad programs.
Grow your network
Make your connections count by building relationships with others in the U of T community. Connect with your professors through your courses and research. Form friendships with classmates or by joining a club. Find a mentorship program on Folio and reach out online to U of T alumni on Ten Thousand Coffees.
Get involved
Check out Ulife to search for student groups based on your interests and develop your leadership skills. Add your experiences to your Co-Curricular Record (CCR) to strengthen your applications for grad schools and future employers.
