Career advising appointments

Book a virtual or in-person one-on-one career advising appointment with a career educator or peer advisor if you are exploring your options, looking for work or considering graduate school. We can help you put a strategy in place!

How to book an appointment

  • Pre-booked appointments (30 min) are available to book up to one week in advance.
  • Just-in-time (30 min) appointments are available to book by 10:30 a.m. on the day before the appointment is held.

To facilitate access for all U of T students and recent alumni, an individual will be not be able to book more than one appointment at a time, nor more than 2 appointments (across all appointment types) per week.

What if there are no appointments available?

If no appointments are available for that topic, you can request on the page to be notified of new appointments.

Please explore the relevant resources listed for that appointment type, as well as the following: career resource library, Career Start, e-book collection, and workshops.

More appointments will become available throughout the week, and others may open due to cancellations.

You can either search for the topic you would like to discuss by typing in the search bar or scroll through the page to see a full list of appointments. Click the topic you are interested in booking to see time and date options that are available.

Meet with a Peer Career Advisor who will help you to clarify your career question(s), and highlight specific programs, services, and resources that meet your unique need(s) and career goals! Think of the Peer Career Advisors as your personal concierge to Career Exploration & Education.

Get feedback on your resume, including formatting, tailoring for specific roles and highlighting accomplishments. A Peer Career Advisor will review your resume and provide feedback on formatting and tailoring to specific roles highlight accomplishments.

Book an ‘Application Review’ appointment, if you are an experienced student or are applying to graduate-level research or senior-level positions.

Meet with a Career Educator to review your further education application documents (e.g. personal statement, CV or resume for further education application) or job application documents (e.g. resume or cover letter). Bring a draft and information about the opportunity to make the most of your time.

Our Peer Career Advisors will help you research about the role and company, learn about common question types and best practices to craft answers. Bring a job posting to the appointment as this will help to identify the core competencies and potential interview questions.

Book an ‘Interview Practice’ appointment to practice interview; mock interview practices are not offered through Interview Prep appointments.

Have an upcoming interview? Connect with a Career Educator to practice strategies to respond to different interview types and questions. To make the most of your appointment, please bring information about the opportunity and types of questions you’d like to practice. (Not sure what types of questions to anticipate? Feeling stuck in your job search? Discuss and develop your job search plan with a Career Educator. Together we will identify strategies to navigate the job search process, review application materials (resume & cover letter), and discuss your workplaces preferences, accessibility needs and potential accommodations.

Are you an Indigenous student (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis)? Meet with an Indigenous Career Educator in a supportive, culturally informed space to:

  • Learn about career programs, services, and resources tailored for Indigenous students.
  • Review your job or further education application documents (e.g., personal statement, CV, or resume).
  • Practice strategies for responding to various interview types and questions.
  • Develop a strategy for making career and education decisions aligned with your values and goals.
  • Explore how to apply to further education and navigate your decision-making process.
  • Build a job search plan that considers your unique interests and strengths.
  • Discuss how to navigate decisions around disclosing your Indigenous identity on professional documents.
  • Reflect on how to incorporate your Indigenous knowledge, community connections and lived experience into your applications, interviews and career planning.

Each week, a limited number of appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. These appointments become available by 10:30 a.m. on the day before the appointments will be held (or on Friday for Monday appointments).
