This information is for prospective and incoming first-year undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts & Science.
Every Faculty of Arts & Science student at the St. George campus is a member of one of the seven colleges. Students will be eligible to apply for residence(s) affiliated with their home college, Chestnut Residence and CampusOne Student Residence.
Residence is guaranteed for all new full-time students entering their first year of a postsecondary program for the first time, provided that they have indicated their interest in residence by completing the StarRez Portal application by March 31, and receive and accept an offer of admission by June 1.
The StarRez Portal is the tool you will use to apply for on-campus residence.
Step 1
Explore your residence options:
- Innis College
- New College
- St. Michael’s College
- Loretto College (part of St. Michael’s College)
- Trinity College
- University College
- Victoria College
- Woodsworth College
- Chestnut Residence
- CampusOne Student Residence
Most students who join the Faculty of Arts & Science will be placed in a residence affiliated with their college. However, some Faculty of Arts & Science students may be placed in another residence, such as Chestnut Residence or CampusOne Student Residence. Woodsworth College students can also indicate University College as one of their residence preferences.
Step 2
Enable your JOINid.
Step 3
Log in to the StarRez Portal to confirm your interest in residence by submitting the first-year residence application by March 31. You will be able to rank your residence preferences if you are admitted to U of T.
Step 4
Wait to receive a residence placement via email throughout June, July and August.
Step 5
Accept your residence placement by the deadline listed in your placement email. This is when you will be asked to pay your residence deposit. You will be able to indicate residence-specific preferences (e.g. building, room type, meal plan, roommate preferences, etc.) if applicable to the residence where you are placed; specific room information will be sent to you by your residence after this.
See the University’s affiliated and independent residences and living off-campus for more housing options.
