In addition to the Multi-Faith Centre, the University of Toronto St George campus offers many multi-purpose spaces suitable for individual and collective prayer and spiritual practices.
Bahen Centre at 40 St. George Street
The Bahen Centre includes an open multi-purpose space with tiled floors and large windows. The space can accommodate 20-30 people and is usually booked for congregational midday prayers (Dhuhr prayers). Mats are provided. At other times the space may be used for a variety of purposes.
Dala Lana School for Public Health at 155 College Street
A room is available on the third floor for individual spirituality practice. Turn right after getting off the elevators. There is a washroom adjacent.
Hart House at 7 Hart House Circle
The Hart House chapel is open to all members for private prayer and meditation, and may also be booked for special functions. A maximum of 30 people can be seated, and the chairs are configurable. Hart House also provides space for Jumu’ah prayers in the Debates Room with the Muslim community on campus every Friday afternoon as well as accommodating a variety of other faith communities on campus every week.
Faculty of Law
The Faculty of Law provides a multi-purpose room that can be reserved for spiritual practices in the basement of Flavelle House at 78 Queen’s Park. We recommend you use the prayer rooms at Emmanuel College across the street @ 75 Queen’s Park instead.
Leslie Dan Pharmacy Building at 144 College Street
The multi-faith spaces are located in the basement in room B220 and B222 and can each accommodate up to 5 people.
Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at 252 Bloor Street West
The multi-faith space is on the fourth floor in room number 4-409, it is open during regular building hours and can accommodate up to 5 people. The room is carpeted and a partition is available.
Robarts Library at 130 St. George Street
The multi-faith room is located on the 8th Floor of Robarts Library. The room is open for quiet meditation, prayer and other spiritual practices. An ablution facility is adjacent. Study spaces are available in other parts of the library. Food and drink are not permitted in this room.
Sussex Clubhouse at 21 Sussex Avenue
The multi-faith space can accommodate approximately 10 people, is carpeted and has no furnishings. When the room is not booked, it is open for individual or small group prayer or meditation.
Victoria College at 75 Queen’s Park
Space for spiritual practices is open to the University in room EM005, on the lower level of Emmanuel College, including ablution facilities. Hours for Muslim prayer have been specifically reserved for Monday to Friday 12:30 – 3 p.m. and 3:30 – 8 p.m.
