Apply for the Indigenous Student Bursary by February 1, 2025.
Eligibility:
- Ontario resident
- Demonstrate financial need
- Must be First Nations, Métis or Inuit
- Undergraduate and graduate students (including second-entry) can apply

Students have to submit an online application for the following opportunities. Deadline to apply is November 1, 2024.

Bennett Award
To be awarded to current full-time, undergraduate students at the University of Toronto based on financial need with preference given to students with Indigenous backgrounds or whose parents did not attend university or college. Amount given varies and is based on financial need.
City of Toronto Scholarship for Indigenous Students Studying in Health Professions
The scholarships will be awarded to Indigenous students studying in any of the health professional programs, undergraduate or graduate, based on financial need, academic merit and demonstrated community leadership skills. Students must be Canadian citizens/Permanent resident and resident of Ontario. Amount given varies and based on financial need.
First Nations House Bursary
Awarded to Indigenous undergraduate or graduate students with demonstrated financial need. Amounts vary and are based on financial need.
Gladys Watson Indigenous Education Fund
To be awarded to Indigenous students enrolled in graduate programs at the masters or doctoral level, and second-entry professional programs (law, medicine, education, etc.) All Indigenous students in these programs are eligible to apply, full-time and part-time, with preference given to those students who demonstrate financial need.
Métis Nation of Ontario Bursary
Bursary is for registered members of the Métis Nation of Ontario. The award can be given to undergraduate and graduate students. Amounts vary and are based on financial need. Students must be registered with the MNO and citizenship will be verified with the MNO office.
Rosalind Murray Bradford Scholarship
To be awarded to an undergraduate student of indigenous ancestry enrolled in his/her second, third or fourth year of study. To be eligible the student must be registered in an undergraduate program and have obtained at least second-class honors standing in his/her previous year. The financial status of the student may receive consideration.
The Gertrude Elgin Robson Scholarship for Indigenous students
To be awarded to full-time Indigenous Students. Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate financial need and who are associated with First Nations House. Award can be given to undergraduate and Graduate level students.
Edward and Dorothy Dawson Award for Indigenous Students
To be awarded to Indigenous undergraduate students with financial need. The value of the award is dependent on financial need, and preference is given to Indigenous students enrolled in any science related discipline. If there are no suitable candidates in the sciences, funding can be given to other Indigenous students who are showing financial need.
Lillian McGregor Award of Excellence
To be awarded to Indigenous students studying full-time at the University of Toronto based on financial need. Amounts will vary in value depending on the need of the student. Indigenous students enrolled in the Transitional Year Program, undergraduate and graduate level programs and second entry studies are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a contribution to the Aboriginal community through volunteerism and involvement with First Nations House or other Indigenous Student Groups.
Marilyn Van Norman Indigenous Student Leadership Award
To be awarded to Indigenous students studying full/part-time at the University of Toronto based on financial need and Ontario residency as defined by the OTSS program conditions. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a contribution to the Indigenous community through volunteerism and involvement with First Nation House or other Indigenous Student Groups. Award open to undergraduates, graduate level students and second entry students.

The President’s Award for the Outstanding Indigenous Student of the Year
There are 2 awards given to Indigenous students (First Nations, Métis, Inuit). The recipients selected on basis of academic achievement, and previous and/or intended contribution to the Indigenous community. Student must be studying full-time and involved in course work. Each award is valued at $10000. Due date for submission of completed application and supporting documents is June 1 annually. SGS Indigenous Graduate Travel Award
The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) Indigenous Graduate Travel Award provides financial assistance to University of Toronto Indigenous graduate students to travel and participate in educational and experiential learning in Canada or abroad in activities specifically focused on Indigenous student or educational issues. Possible activities include Indigenous-focused events, workshops, meetings, field trips, competitions, and other educational-related activities, online or in-person, approved by SAGE UT (Supporting Aboriginal Graduate Enhancement, University of Toronto) and First Nations House.
