          If you have a concern about a student service located on the St. George Campus, your first step is to talk to the Director of the service.

          If your concern has not been resolved after taking this step, your second step should be to contact the Executive/Senior Director of the service.

Office space for student clubs and groups

Applications for space are now closed.

The Sussex Clubhouse offers about 50 shared offices for recognized student groups on the St. George campus. Offices are allocated annually for a one-year term.

Eligibility

Only groups recognized by the Office of Student Life through the Student Organization Portal in the 2024-25 year are eligible to apply for office space.

Space allocation is determined by the Committee to Allocate Student Activity Space (CASAS).

What does “maintain good standing” mean for student groups?

  • fulfill occupancy goals
  • attend mandatory open house, fall and winter meetings
  • submit application form to indicate you want office space for 2024-25 academic year

Club locker space

If you are part of a recognized student group that requires storage space (but not an office) at the 21 Sussex Clubhouse, please apply for a locker.

Student Club Office Space Evaluation Rubric

Mandate

Low Scoring: Unclear or loosely connected to student needs.
Mid Scoring: Some connection to academic, social, or cultural needs but lacks strong examples.
Mid-High Score: Clearly aligned with student needs, with some engagement examples.
High Score: Strong alignment with well-articulated mandate and multiple examples.
Best Score: Exceptional alignment, unique approach, strong EDI commitment with concrete examples.

Need for Office Space

Low Scoring: Minimal justification; lacks detail on usage.
Mid Scoring: Some explanation but lacks clarity or depth.
Mid-High Score: Clear plan for office hours, storage, and meetings.
High Score: Well-developed plan demonstrating office enhancement of club functions.
Best Score: Comprehensive, strategic use of space with strong integration and vision.

Group Activities & Events

Low Scoring: Few or no events; no collaborations.
Mid Scoring: At least one event completed/planned; minimal collaboration.
Mid-High Score: Two events completed, one planned, some collaboration.
High Score: Strong history of events, clear collaboration efforts.
Best Score: Consistent execution, strong future planning, impactful collaborations.

Impact

Low Scoring: Minimal or unclear impact on student experience.
Mid Scoring: Some positive impact demonstrated, limited examples.
Mid-High Score: Well-rounded impact with qualitative/quantitative examples.
High Score: Strong impact through events, EDI, collaboration.
Best Score: Exceptional impact with data, testimonials, well-integrated office space plan.

We support students in formal leadership positions (clubs, groups, representative leaders), students wanting to join clubs and students who want to develop leadership skills.
