My Career Story series is an opportunity for current students and recent graduates to connect with and hear alumni share their unique career stories, while reflecting on the various ways they have been able to integrate their skills, identity, values and interests into their careers.
These alumni stories will highlight the importance of uncertainty, non-linear careers and exploration when considering how your academics, experiences, identity and interests translate to various career opportunities.
What to expect at a My Career Story event?
- Explore the role identity plays in navigating careers.
- Learn about the diverse non-linear career paths of alumni.
- Identify how transferable skills lead to diverse career options.
- Unique and unexpected ways alumni used their degree.
- Explore different positions, industries and sectors.
- Alumni Panels
These moderated Q&A sessions will begin with alumni sharing their stories through a short talk, followed by questions and discussion. These sessions will be held virtually or in person.
- Alumni Networking Nights
A large group of students and alumni come together to mingle and form connections with each other. These events are usually done in collaboration with other departments and student groups at University of Toronto.
We aim to provide wrap-around programming so keep your eyes out for Networking Workshops specific to our upcoming events!
- Career Libraries
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover!
Join Living Library inspired events consisting of a library of people serving as open books for conversation, where participants can borrow a person to chat with.
Everyone from our cohort will represent a group in our society that is often subject to prejudice, stigmatization or discrimination because of their lifestyle, diagnosis, belief, disability, social status, ethnic origin, etc. We aim to create a space where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered.
These events will have a range of people to speak to in time slots, and you will have the opportunity to speak to multiple people you may otherwise not have access to!

What Students Are Saying
RATE
