When you’re a student, finding a place to live off campus can be a challenge, especially if you’ve never rented before. Housing is launching a series of eLearning modules to support students looking for a place to live off campus, near UTM, UTSC or UTSG.

Each module will help you with different aspects of finding housing in the GTA—together they should provide all the information you need. Topics include: Determining your Needs, Finding a Roommate, Your Rental Search, Attending a Viewing, Making a Rental Application and Signing a Lease.

“I loved the exercise that helped new international students figure out all they would need for making their rental application. That was as practical as it gets,” reports Marinus Okoronkwo, PhD student at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies.

Each module provides answers to detailed questions you might have about the housing search, including things like what documents you might need, financial preparation and questions, and where to go for more information.

“This module was put together perfectly. It is great for the student to understand their expectations, wants, and needs when picking out a roommate. I loved the activities. They were fun and informative,” said Sue Gulsen, second year student.

Depending on where you are in the rental housing search process, you can complete these modules in order, or jump right to the specific information that you need.
