Student Life has moved to a new online registration platform called Folio – a system that allows students to search, browse and register for and track engagement with events, services, programs and appointments.
Integrated with digital systems across the University of Toronto, Folio provides users with a one-stop platform that presents experiences in a clear, organic way. This new system has a comprehensive search function, helping users find what they’re looking for through common keywords and filters.
“Folio is an exciting opportunity for change,” says Vice-Provost, Students, Sandy Welsh who co-sponsored the project with Susan McCahan, Vice-Provost, Innovations in Undergraduate Education, and Vice-Provost, Academic Programs at the University of Toronto.
“It offers an intuitive and organized database of campus experiences while providing a central source of information and opportunity for students.”
The new system gathers information from across units and divisions, eliminating the need for users to search by department or unit. Students can look for specific information, browse new opportunities and register for events in one convenient place.
“One major highlight of the new system is its integration with the Co-Curricular Record,” says Welsh. “Within event listings, Folio includes the skills participants can build, clearly outlining the correlation between campus involvement and skill development. After completing workshops, students can return to Folio to update their CCR with a clear understanding of the competencies they’ve gained.”
While most Student Life events and services have moved to Folio, job boards, employer resources, workshops and services provided through Career Exploration and Education will stay on CLNx for the time being.
