COVID-19: Things to know before visiting the Health & Wellness clinic

Posted March 11, 2020

Ontario health officials have confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Toronto. However, the risk of contracting the virus remains low.

In an effort to remain vigilant, Health & Wellness is working with our patients to take precautionary steps. Patients will be greeted by Health & Wellness staff at the entrance of our clinic for pre-screening and further instructions.

Patients will be asked, both in-person and when booking appointments over the phone, if they:

  • Have a new cough, fever, or other respiratory symptoms and have either been in Hubei, China in the two weeks prior to becoming ill or
  • Have been in contact with a confirmed case or someone else who has been in Hubei, China and is ill.

If you have travelled from Hubei province in the last 14 days:

Limit your contact with others for a total of 14 days from the date you left Hubei. This means self-isolate at home. Contact Toronto Public Health at 416-338-7600.

As this situation has the potential to change, Health & Wellness may need to update our policies and procedures as needed.

Note: Surgical masks will only be provided when deemed appropriate based on patient screening but are not being generally distributed to students by Health & Wellness. For the most effective ways to protect yourself and others, please see above.
