This unique program gives you the opportunity to mentor a staff or faculty member and share what it is like to be a student at U of T.
All current part-time and full-time U of T students, faculty and staff (St. George campus) are eligible.
Become a student mentor
As a student mentor, you will gain leadership experience and increase your confidence in multi-generational settings. You have important experiences to share and there is a staff or faculty member who wants to learn about them.
One condition of being accepted into the program is that attendance at program activities are mandatory. Students who have scheduling conflicts or do not have stable access to video conferencing at these times will need to participate in a different session of the program.
Become a staff and faculty mentee
As a staff or faculty member (the mentee), you will be matched with a student and take part in a mentoring relationship that will allow you to see U of T through the eyes of a student.
This program is for staff and faculty members who wish to have meaningful interactions with the “average” student and empower students to take on active roles in their community.
One condition of being accepted into the program is that attendance at program activities are mandatory. Staff and faculty who have conflicts at these times will need to participate in a different session of the program.

What Students Are Saying

My favourite activity, and in my opinion the most effective, was the "try something new on campus" one. We very much enjoyed watching a U of T orchestral performance at the Faculty of Music.
U of T Student Mentor
The three sessions were very perfectly chosen and well thought out. The three sessions are different in nature which made it possible to get to know my mentee better. The fact that the sessions are structured (when we have clear guidelines of what we have to do each session), it is so much easier to have a conversation and develop that relationship with my mentee.
U of T Student Mentor
I love the chance to move between structured and informal connection opportunities. My mentor was organized and on the ball - confident and assured. I felt really looked after through the process and the greatest benefit was hearing first hand what a student is going through and their opinions and perceptions of U of T.
U of T Staff Member Mentee
I benefited so much from this experience, and now have a greater understanding of what it's like to be an international student. I learned more than I would have ever thought to ask.
