Founded in 1992 by Diane Longboat, First Nations House (FNH) is a culturally relevant hub for Indigenous students at the University of Toronto.
FNH provides a space on the St. George campus to learn about Indigenous knowledges and traditional teachings, attend events, socialize, seek guidance from Traditional Teachers and access financial and academic supports.
“It’s like home. A safe spot here, you can be yourself, your Anishinaabe self, or Haudenosaunee self, and you know that’s where the people are.” – Jackie Esquimaux-Hamlin, retired resource centre co-ordinator for FNH.
