I am currently in my third year of undergraduate study at UofT perusing a specialist in Visual Studies. Accessibility requires advocacy. I have long been engaged in this question of advocacy, responsibility and the intersection of feminism, environmentalism, and access. This year I am enthusiastic about the possibility for change, and excited to use my voice to uplift our dynamic community.

I am currently a second-year student pursuing interests in cognitive science, psychology, and philosophy. On top of this, I like to contribute to the Type One Diabetes community, which in the past two years has changed my life for the better (I’ve been living with diabetes for nearly 8 years now). Outside of school, I work within Aquatics, and I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing the guitar, and poetry!

Luiza Lamaj
Committee Member
Luiza is in her second- year of the BScN nursing program at UofT. She is currently also a practicing Registered Practical Nurse. Her passion for accessibility for disabled students and health care services stems from her lived experience living with a physical disability. She has done previous volunteer and research work looking at health care access for individuals with disabilities. Living with a disability as well as working as a health care professional, have provided me with firsthand insight on the challenges and difficulties faced by patients and their families as they go through the health care system. I hope to bridge the gap between services provided to ensure accessibility in education and health care for students with disabilities to ensure they have the supports they need.

I advocate pragmatically, using evidence-based methods to drive accountability and change. I believe disability connects diverse people as a powerful collective force. Please reach out to SBA with thoughts or suggestions you would like to share. Also, I am a third-year undergraduate student studying computer science and cognitive science.
