U-TAAC: Designing an Accessible Classroom

Designing an Accessible Classroom is a free event on April 3, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Hart House Music Room. The conference will also be held on Zoom.
Hosted by University of Toronto Accessibility Awareness Club (U-TAAC) in partnership with Hart House, Accessibility Services, The Centre for Global Disability Studies, and the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association.
Designing an Accessible Classroom will uncover different innovative accessibility initiatives taking place at the University of Toronto in the hopes of inspiring both U of T and post-secondary institutions to adopt these practices.
The conference will feature panels comprising representatives from Accessibility Services, faculty, students and individual’s instrumental in designing/administering training procedures for the university. Notable speakers will include the University of Toronto’s AODA officer Ben Poynton, MPP of University-Rosedale Jessica Bell, Director of Accessibility Services UTSG Michael Nicholson, and a keynote presentation from Dr. Devon Healey.
Students, faculty, community members and staff from any institution who are interested in accessibility and inclusion within academic environments are eligible to attend.
