This session for master’s and PhD students and postdoctoral fellows will provide space to explore cultivating a community of support for both academic and non-academic careers. Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in academia or seeking non-academic opportunities after completing your graduate studies, the people around you will be important to your career and you will be important in theirs. In this session, we will discuss:
- Ways to build connections with peers, your supervisor, committee members, and other staff and faculty you may interact with
- How to talk to people at conferences
- Cultivating peer connections for support now and in the future
- Acknowledging competitive environments that can make it difficult to share and connect with others
- Supporting and advocating for others in your career community
Accessibility notes
While we encourage community building and connection in the session, we understand that some may wish to participate independently. We trust you know what is best for you, so you will have an opportunity to work on your document independently and/or in collaboration with others.
