The English Conversation Communities for Grads (ECCG) gives graduate students a chance to practice speaking English in a friendly group environment. These groups are led by volunteer graduate students who are welcoming and supportive to hear your ideas.
Chat about Toronto slang and idioms, meeting new people, campus life and other fun topics in a pressure-free environment.
Last year’s topics included:
- email communication and online chatting
- food cultures in Toronto
- relationships and dating cultures
- non-verbal communication across cultures
- interpreting and using humour in conversations
- how to navigate awkward or challenging conversations
The topics above are only suggested themes for the discussions, so feel free to bring your own subjects and questions to each ECCG hub.
Graduate student (degree or exchange), if English is an additional language for you. There will also be one hub for postdoctoral fellows.
