The strength of the U of T experience is in its vibrant, diverse and eclectic array of student organizations. Through the more than 400 different campus organizations, you can meet peers with similar interests, gain leadership skills and experiences, experience diversity in all its forms, and make a difference in this community and beyond. At Student Life Programs, we provide a range of services and support to ensure that campus organizations are accountable, democratic, accessible and effective.

University Recognition
Interested in starting a new group? Applying for University recognition is often on of the first steps new groups take in order to establish themselves on campus. Student Life Programs administers the University’s
Policy on the Recognition of Campus Groups. The benefits of University recognition include:
- The right to use the University name in conjunction with your activities.
- Space booking privileges on the St. George Campus.
- Eligibility to apply for office space on campus.
- Access to Student Life services for campus groups; including group webspace.
- Access to other university services; UTOR Mail, etc.
The application process for University recognition can only be completed on-line. Using your UTORid and password, logon to
Ulife and under the "Campus Organizations" drop-down menu select "Apply for Recognition" to submit your group's application!

Web Services
Student Life offers web server space free to campus groups. The server is at groups.sa.utoronto.ca. Contact the Web Administrator at
groups@mail.studentlife.utoronto.ca for more information.
Campus Group Resource Centre
This small computing facility is available to all recognized campus groups and is located in room 516 of the Sussex Club House.
Office Space
A limited number of shared offices are allocated each year for a two-year occupancy term. Groups must be recognized in order to apply for office space.
Other University Services
Hart House
We encourage recognized campus groups to make use of the facilities and services of Hart House, most of them free. Information on room bookings, catering, bulletin boards, the Hart House Farm and collaboration opportunities is available at the
Hart House website.
UTORlist
You can establish a LISTSERV for your group through the Information Commons, as long as you are a Recognized Campus Group (through Student Affairs). See
UTORList Service.
UTORmail
A group leader can request a group e-mail account through Ulife. Login to
Ulife and select Manage Group Services.
Legal Advice
Legal advice is provided free by
Downtown Legal Services that is staffed by law students and funded through a student levy. Disputes can often be resolved with the assistance of the Office of Student Life.
U of T Logo and Merchandising
Recognized campus groups at the University have the right to use the University name in their officially recognized name.
However, the U of T logo and crests are no longer permitted for use in any of the recognized campus group promotional materials.
