Inbound exchange nomination

All applicants must be nominated by their home university.

You cannot apply to us directly. All application materials must be forwarded to our office by your home university. Please contact the exchange office at your home institution for details about application procedures and deadlines.

If your university is not listed as one of our partners, you will not be eligible for exchange. However, there may still be other ways to attend University of Toronto as a visiting international student.

Required documents

Your application will not be processed until all of the required partner and student documents for your application are uploaded by the deadline. Please follow the instructions carefully to ensure that you have submitted all of the documents. Depending on the faculty that you are applying for, the number and type of required documents will be different.  

Online application

The online application system for the 2017-2018 academic year will open on January 5, 2017.

If you have been nominated by your home institution, you can apply for exchange at U of T online through our Student Portal when the system is open for applications.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In most cases, the new schedule of course offerings for your desired Academic Faculty will not have been published by the exchange application deadline. When you are applying for an exchange, you will be asked to pick preliminary courses based on the current year’s calendar and timetable. The Faculty that you are applying to wants to get a general sense of the courses that you wish to take. These will not be the courses that you will be necessarily be taking during your exchange.

Partners and students’ online nomination and completed exchange application deadline for:

  • Graduate-level studies Fall, Full Year and Winter applications including OISE exchange applicants
    • All graduate students must be nominated to the School of Graduate Studies.

April 1, 2017

Partners and students’ online nominations and completed Fall, Full Year and Winter exchange applications deadline for undergraduate-level exchange studies for the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Arts and Science (including Rotman Commerce) at St. George campus
  • Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering
  • John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design
  • Kinesiology and Physical Education
  • Law
  • Music
  • University of Toronto Scarborough campus
  • University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus including the International Research Opportunity Program (iROP).

Late applications

In exceptional circumstances, we may consider late applications. You must contact our office about this and get our approval for the acceptance of late applications. Late applications will likely take longer to process (up to 4 months). Note that our office cannot guarantee admission and course enrolment for late applications. It is in your best interest to apply before the deadline because you will receive priority in course enrolment and other benefits.
