Summer Internships 2012
The Office of Student Life is offering four exciting and challenging opportunities for current U of T students to learn about the field of student life through a summer-long paid internship. The Summer Interns will:
- Learn about the fields of student life and student development through active involvement in program planning and implementation
- Develop and practice skills in communication, meeting management, event planning, outreach and marketing and more
- Work in a team environment under the supervision of professional full-time staff
Terms of Employment for Student Life Internships:
- $15 per hour, minimum of 20 hours per week and a maximum of 35 hrs week
- Positions run from April or May 2012 – September 2012 (specifics noted below)
- Interns are members of the United Steelworkers of America and are employed in accordance with the terms and conditions provided in the Collective Agreement between the University and the Casual Staff bargaining unit.
PROGRAM INTERN (CAMPUS GROUPS)
The Campus Groups Intern will take the lead in organizing the 2012 Ulead Conference. The intern will support the leadership development of campus organizations through programs, events, workshops, publications and online resources. The intern will work from the Campus Groups Resource Centre and will provide support to student leaders who use the Resource Centre during the summer months.Applications are invited from current U of T students (graduate or undergraduate) with the following experience, skills and attributes:
- Past or current involvement in campus organizations
- Leadership experience on and/or off-campus (eg. student government, residence don, orientation, student media)
- Proficient in a number of computer applications
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Confidence in speaking to groups and in organizing and facilitating meetings
- A familiarity with the University of Toronto community
- Demonstrated interest in the field of student life
- Experience in group facilitation is an asset
